Jewellery on etsy

Whilst I'm on a blogging roll, I'll pop this up too. I mainly sell through my Sydney Strand Arcade store, but I do have a small selection of pieces on etsy at

Currently I have on there some silver and gold rings. There is always more to choose from in my actual store, but etsy is a good option if you're in, say, the Cayman Islands, and don't want to lose your prime deckchair position to pay us a visit.

Latin posy ring

We've just managed to snap a photo of a commissioned ring before it's collected . It's hand engraved in latin -"the part of life we truly live is short".

The quote is from Seneca- a Roman Stoic philosopher (who would have needed philosophical stoicism as both Nero's tutor, and long time adversary of Caligula).

Other great Seneca quotes that complement this one are "Life, if thou knowest how to use it, is long enough", and "One should count each day a separate life"

The image is much bigger than the actual ring, but in real life the engraving has a lovely delicacy and refinement.

Whilst I'm on the subject, I should add that this ring has been engraved by hand. By Hand. To belabour the point for you machine age digitised gen X, Y, Z'ers this means carved with tools like this

by a hand- which looks like this

....but with more band-aids. Which is why they call it hand engraving ,boom-boom.
